Digital Fingerprinting

RCMP Electronic Fingerprinting for Canadian Criminal Record Checks

Digital fingerprinting is the modern method of capturing fingerprints electronically using a LiveScan system and securely submitting them to the RCMP to obtain a Canadian Criminal Record Check.

At Fingerprinting FP, our Brampton office is RCMP accredited and authorized to submit fingerprints directly to the RCMP’s Canadian Criminal Real Time Identification Services (CCRTIS).

Why Do You Need Digital Fingerprinting?

Digital fingerprinting is commonly required for:

• Canadian immigration applications
• Employment background checks
• Vulnerable Sector Checks
• U.S. Waiver applications
• U.S. Visa / Green Card processing
• Privacy Act requests
• Foreign visa or immigration applications
• Record suspension (pardon) applications
• Legal name change
• Adoption processes

RCMP Accredited Digital Technology

We use advanced LiveScan digital fingerprinting technology, which allows us to:

• Capture high-quality fingerprints
• Submit fingerprints electronically to the RCMP
• Reduce rejection risk
• Improve processing accuracy

Process

Getting your RCMP Fingerprint-Based Criminal Record Check is simple:

  1. Your fingerprints are captured digitally at our Brampton office.

  2. Fingerprints are submitted securely to RCMP CCRTIS.

  3. The RCMP processes your application.

  4. The RCMP mails your official criminal record check directly to your home address or a third party by Canada Post.

Fingerprinting FP does not issue or deliver the RCMP certificate. All certificates are processed and mailed only by the RCMP.

RCMP Processing Time

If there is no match to a criminal record:

• RCMP processing time: approximately 3 business days
• Total delivery time: usually 2–4 weeks, depending on RCMP and Canada Post

If manual processing is required or a match exists:

• RCMP processing time: up to 120 business days, plus delivery time

Processing times are controlled solely by the RCMP and cannot be expedited by any fingerprinting agency.

Results

Your RCMP certificate will reflect the reason selected for your fingerprinting request. It is very important that the correct purpose is chosen, as it appears on your RCMP certificate.

Depending on your request, the RCMP will issue certificates similar to:

• Privacy Act request certificate
• No criminal record certificate
• Certificate with record (page 1 & page 2)

Regardless of where fingerprints are taken in Canada, all RCMP certificates are processed and mailed by the RCMP in Ottawa.
