Ink & Roll Fingerprinting
What Is Ink & Roll Fingerprinting?
Ink & roll fingerprinting is the traditional method of capturing fingerprints using black ink and paper fingerprint cards. This method was historically used for criminal record checks and police certificates.
In Canada, ink fingerprinting has largely been replaced by digital (electronic) fingerprinting. However, many foreign countries, licensing bodies, and international authorities still require fingerprints to be captured using ink on physical fingerprint cards.
Fingerprinting FP provides professional ink & roll fingerprinting services using high-quality materials and trained technicians to ensure accurate, clear, and rejection-free fingerprint impressions.
When Is Ink Fingerprinting Required?
Ink fingerprinting may still be required when:
• Applying for police certificates from foreign countries
• Applying for professional or nursing licenses in certain U.S. states
• Submitting fingerprints to authorities that do not accept digital submissions
• Authorities do not accept Canadian Standard Fingerprint Card (C-216C)
• Specific embassies or international agencies request ink fingerprints
We can provide ink fingerprints on any fingerprint card required by your authority, including FD-258 and C-216C cards.
Our Quality Commitment
At Fingerprinting FP, we use:
• High-quality ink pads
• Professional fingerprinting techniques
• Experienced and trained technicians
This helps prevent over-inking, smudging, and unclear impressions — significantly reducing the risk of fingerprint rejection.
Process
-
All ten fingerprints are captured using both flat and rolled impressions.
-
The fingerprint technician stamps and signs the fingerprint card as required.
-
You will sign the card in the presence of the technician.
-
Additional cards can be completed during the same appointment if needed.
-
The card will be stamped and sealed when required.
-
Upon request, we can provide a Letter of Authentication confirming that fingerprints were taken by an accredited fingerprinting agency.
